Ambassadors of The People’s House

Meet the members of The White House Experience Advisory Council

who we are

Since its founding in 1961 by First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, the White House Historical Association has been dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of the Executive Mansion through acquisition, preservation, research, and education. The Association’s latest milestone in this mission is The People’s House: A White House Experience—an innovative museum located just one block from the White House. This immersive experience brings the story of the Executive Mansion to life, showcasing its history, its residents, and the dedicated individuals who keep it running.

The White House Experience Advisory Council plays a vital role in ensuring these transformative educational programs, including The People’s House, remain accessible and free for all visitors, upholding the Association’s commitment to making history available to everyone.

Diane J. McDonald, Founding Member

“I joined the White House Experience Advisory Council to give more people access to the White House and history of our country. If the White House could talk, it would tell you about the thousands of people and events that have shaped both national and global history. And that is what The People’s House does. It gives the White House a voice to share its stories.”
